I’m excited to be building the Queens, New York Databricks User Group, a new community focused on bringing together data professionals, engineers, and AI enthusiasts from across NYC and beyond.
We’ve just kicked off our first meetup, and the vision is simple:
👉 Create a strong, inclusive community
👉 Share knowledge across data engineering, analytics, AI & ML
👉 Enable more community-led talks, discussions, and networking
Now, I’m looking for passionate co-organizers who want to help shape and grow this community.
This could be a great fit if you:
• Work in (or are learning) data engineering, analytics, AI, or ML
• Enjoy connecting people and building communities
• Want to help organize events, speakers, and discussions
• Are excited about growing the Databricks ecosystem locally
Interest in (or experience with) Databricks required. Expertise in Terraform, AWS, CICD pipelines, Gitlab/Github and Database administration (postgresql) a great plus.

⏱️ Proposed Time Commitment
Baseline expectation: 2–4 hours per month
I feel that’s enough to keep momentum going with burning out. Approximate breakdown:
~1 hour: monthly planning call
~1–2 hours: async coordination (Slack/email, speaker outreach, etc.)
~1 hour: event support (only during event months)
👉 This is flexible—some months will be lighter/heavier depending on events.
