In the past month, Databricks Genie has witnessed several exciting announcements and developments and it can be hard to keep up. We summarised some of them here and we’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences:
1. Genie Ontology maps and ranks your business's knowledge — Auto-builds a living knowledge graph from your tables, queries, and dashboards, ranking sources so Genie answers with the right context.
2. Genie One has evolved into your agentic coworker — Genie One goes beyond BI to a work hub that can access your email/docs, run scheduled tasks, and use custom reusable skills.
3. Customise your Genie One homepage — Admins can brand the Genie One landing page with logos, colors, a welcome message, and pinned Spaces/dashboards to guide users.
4. Multi-fact relationships and cross-dataset measures — Model multiple fact tables on shared dimensions to build measures (like sell-through rate) that span datasets without pre-joining in SQL.
5. Custom visualisations with Vega-Lite — Build custom chart types using the open Vega-Lite library while keeping governance and dashboard filters intact.
