We compare batch and streaming approaches within a medallion architecture, noting that batch processing is primarily used for scalability and cost efficiency, while streaming supports near real-time inspection needs. A multi-region setup leveraging Databricks and Delta Sharing is described, enabling governed cross-region access without unnecessary duplication, with local replication applied in cases of high egress cost or performance demands.
