Join us Tuesday, August 25th at Kiewit offices just west of 120th and Giles. Presentations start at 6 PM CST. The Omaha Databricks User Group covers a variety of topics to help develop your data and AI skills:

Presenter: Siva Kumar Yadavalli

Siva, a Data Platform Manager at Kiewit, will share the customer story from one of North America's largest construction and engineering firms. Delivering projects at that scale generates enormous operational data volume, and Kiewit has built a platform to turn it into a competitive advantage.

His talk will focus on how Kiewit uses Spark Declarative Pipelines alongside dbt to manage data pipelines at scale. He'll cover how the two fit together in practice: where declarative pipelines handle ingestion and incremental processing, where dbt drives transformation and modeling, and how the combination gives their engineering team reliability and maintainability without sacrificing the flexibility their business teams need.

Attendees will come away with a practical view of what it takes to run a modern lakehouse in an industry where data comes from job sites, equipment fleets, and decades of project history rather than from clean digital-native sources.

Joining Siva, Kiewit's Databricks account representative will run through a handful of highlights from last month's Data + AI Summit and will have some Databricks swag to give away.
