Description:

Join us this month as the Omaha Databricks User Group covers a variety of topics to help develop your AI skills:

Session 1: Building Personal AI Health Recommendation Engine in Databricks using Lakebase and Agent Bricks

In this session I'll walk through how I unified data from three separate fitness apps — diet logs, activity tracking, and workout data — into a single Databricks platform and used it to break a weight loss plateau in the final two weeks of a 12-week program.

What we'll cover:

  • Loading transactional fitness data into Lakebase and federating it into Unity Catalog alongside Delta tables

  • Building domain-specific Genie Spaces for natural language queries across nutrition, recovery, and training data

  • Orchestrating cross-domain insights using Agent Bricks Supervisor to get tailored recommendations that no single data source could provide

  • Surfacing everything through a Databricks App

Key takeaway: The same pattern — unified data, governed access, AI-powered cross-domain analysis — applies to any organization sitting on siloed data sources. If you have the data equivalent of a CRM, an ERP, and a support queue that have never talked to each other, this talk is for you.

Session 2: NAA Tournament Predictions with AI Dev Kit

Ever wonder if you could build a better bracket than your friends using Data Science Using the Databricks AI Dev Kit on Databricks Free Edition, I built a full NCAA Tournament prediction pipeline: data ingestion, feature engineering, and a machine learning model trained on 10 years of tournament history, entirely through conversational AI with Claude as my coding assistant, all built on Databricks Free Edition in a couple of nights. We'll walk through how the AI Dev Kit makes it possible to build a complete Databricks solution without ever leaving your chat window.

20 minutes — architecture walkthrough, live demo screenshots, and Q&A

Join us Tuesday, April 28th at Improving offices near 192nd and Dodge. Presentation starts at 6 pm CST.
